Davey Jones
DAVID BOWIE’S “LOVE YOU TIL TUESDAY”.
It all begins here. Once there was a Brixton boy named Davy Jones, whose first love of Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” and Elvis’s “Hound Dog” led him to believe that this is what he wanted to. He started with skiffle music using what little ukulele lessons he had taken. In due course, the power of gyrating dance connected to rhythm and blues held too much of a grasp to lead him down the traditional route. Fate had it so that somewhere down the line a friend of his punched him in the eye and set in him some motion that would live in him forever. Rather than treat it as an impediment, Bowie added this permanent change as part and parcel of what would be an alluring image.
RIP Bowie, a true genius. Davie Jones and the Manish Boys toured with the Kinks back in 1964.and ever since they… https://t.co/LtxP2E4eVy

When he set aside his plastic saxophone, Bowie’s belief that he had something to offer that schooling couldn’t provide, would figure into the equation that told him he’d have to give it a go in this new Rock and Roll sound. Then as his inquisitive and quietly articulate nature grew, early groups he joined like The Konrads, The Bees, and The Buzz, gave way to something far more drastic.
DAVID BOWIE’S “LAUGHING GNOME”.
Tired of being compared to another famous Davey Jones, and to be honest, the Merseybeat he was mining, he rechristened himself David Bowie. Under this new name he’d release music more attuned to his new influences and mindset. “The Laughing Gnome,” the first single release under this name, presented this side.
zZ PLAYLIST: DAVID BOWIE: THE EARLY YEARS
Owing major parts to the skewed pop of Syd Barrett, Bowie underwent a transformation into the first proper phase of his life: a psychedelic one. 1967’s David Bowie featured a with-it take on the type of British Pop being released by the likes of the Kinks, Small Faces, and The Beatles, all bands he was keen on. Then you add dashes of comedy, music hall, and a solo act trying to beat all of them at their own game…and you get this ultimately valiant, yet not entirely successful initial attempt at stardom.
