Fans of smooth John Mayer tones have something to look forward to in 2022 as Paul Reed Smith announced an SE Silver Sky model yesterday. The Instagram post revealed the four new finishes: Ever Green, Stone Blue, Moon White, and Dragon Fruit.
A list of specs was also posted, and highlights include a familiar 635JM shaped maple neck with rosewood fretboard featuring a slightly wider 8.5″ radius (the USA version features a 7.25″ radius fretboard). Pickups are a trio of 635JM “S” single coils, which would likely sound similar to the standard 635JM pickups found in the USA line.
The PRS Silver Sky was introduced with plenty of buzz and forum talk in 2017, and quickly caught on as a favorite. Since then, the model has been released with several new finishes, as well as a version with a maple fretboard, but fans have been clamoring for a more affordable SE Series model ever since.
