MXR has been stamping out tone-shaping icons since 1972, and few of them are more legendary than the rack unit that lived in Dimebag Darrell’s wet loop 100% of the time. Now the MXR Flanger/Doubler brings that M-126 magic down to pedalboard size, with all-analog, bucket-brigade circuitry and the original control set: Manual, Width, Speed, Regen, and Mix, plus sweep LEDs so you can see the delay time move. Hit the Doubler button for the delayed, double-tracked thickening that made one guitarist sound like two, or flip the Invert switch for everything from airy vocality to bold low-mid punch. There’s even CV in/out for syncing up with synths, sequencers, and expression pedals!
What’s a Doubler, and How Does it Sound?
Doubler effects, or ADT (automatic/artificial double tracking) adds a second delayed signal (usually behind by just a few milliseconds) and blends it in with the dry signal. The result is a thickened sound that can sound like a part was double-tracked in the studio.
Hear doubling and flanging for yourself with our exclusive Legends of Tone video demo of the MXR Flanger/Doubler! Justin takes the Flanger/Doubler for a spin through Dime’s most recognizable riffs, from that unmistakable swirling “Cowboys From Hell” intro to fat, doubled rhythm tones and lead lines that cut right through!
