Need to build a rig from scratch that satisfies your metal tastes? Limiting ourselves to just $1,500, we wanted our choices to provide all the pummeling tones with enough volume to jam anywhere. Loaded with a pair of Diamond Plus humbuckers and a Floyd Rose, as well as a great price, the Schecter Omen Extreme was our guitar of choice. For amplification, we chose EVH’s small-yet-mighty 5150 Iconic Series 15-watt combo — a perfect blend of portability and tube response that screams and chugs with a larger sound than you’d think!
With this pair, you’ll get heavy, gig-able tones with a high performance-to-cost ratio. Check out our exclusive video and let us know what you think!
