Awaken from your dream of rolling lush hills of ambient reverb and softly churning waves of modulation to find the Walrus Audio SLÖ multi-texture reverb pedal nestled softly on your pedalboard.
At first, there looks like a lot to unpack about the SLÖ, but once you stomp on this box of ambient textures, you’ll soon find yourself being washed over in a lush soundscape.
At the core of the pedal are the three main algorithms/reverb modes: Dark (lower octave), Rise (ambient swell) and Dream (latching pad). From there, you can add modulation in one of three ways via the secondary switch: sine, warp and sink.
From there, you have a few more familiar controls via the knobs: decay, filter, mix, depth and the alluring, “X.” Most of these knobs are self-explanatory, but the X knob varies in its assigned function depending on which mode you’re in.
Finally, a secondary sustain switch will ramp up the decay control and stretch out a flowing tail of tranquil reverb that lets you drift awash into your next note or passage. If you’re in the Dream mode, this switch is latching, creating a undulating, ever-present pad-like sound.
You might feel at first that you’re lost in a washing sea of swelling ambient reverb, but after you start discovering familiar sounds and gathering your bearings, you’ll realize that no matter where your cartography skills lead you, a vast uncharted ambient dreamscape is the only destination.
All this is just a brief glimpse of the features of the SLÖ; let our demo guide you into swimming out past the shallows and opening yourself up to the vast ambient void.
