The TR-8S Rhythm Performer remixes Roland’s iconic beat heritage to create their most performance-oriented drum machine yet. Roland has gone beyond recreating iconic drum machine models from their past — on the TR-8S, you can create your ideal drum machine of the future by inserting a SD memory card and importing stereo drum samples which you can tweak and combine with sounds from the 808, 606, 909, and more.
As a performance instrument, the TR-8S features a redesigned sequencer with a dedicated performance pad to quickly tap out and record whole patterns — up to 128 in total with 8 variations (A-H) and 2 fills — on the fly. For richly detailed drum grooves that can create whole melodies, bass lines, or tonal drum shifts, motion controls (with locking parameters) now capture every subtle or drastic sonic change you make on the built-in, multi-FX engine and mixing panel. The intuitive control doesn’t end there, though.
The TR-8S took another cue from the past: With eight analog outputs, now you’re able to process each drum sound separately through external effects, outboard gear, or a DAW, freeing you from applying all effects equally to each sound. Aesthetically, the TR-8S has ramped up visual cues by color-coding each drum channel and increasing the size of the backlit LCD display for guess-free sequencer editing. As for the rest — we can’t wait for you to discover the rest with the TR-8S right in front of you. In the meantime, see what the TR-8s can do in our exclusive demo video above!
