Perfect Pairings: Reverend Descent & Orange Rockerverb 100 MKIII

September’s Perfect Pairing: Reverend Descent H90 Baritone & Orange Rockerverb 100 MkIII Head

This month, we’re plugging the Reverend Descent H90 baritone guitar into the Orange Rockerverb MkIII for 100 watts of earth-shaking low end.

Reverend Descent H90 Baritone

Reverend Descent H90 Baritone

The Reverend Descent H90 Baritone features a 26 3/4″ scale neck, which means it’s long enough to accommodate baritone tuning, yet still feels comfortable for guitarists who don’t want to feel like they’re playing a bass. The Descent’s low-end growl is tightened up by a pair of Railhammer pickups, featuring rails under the wound strings and oversized pole pieces under the high strings for a perfect tonal blend.

Take the Descent H90 Baritone and plug it into the Orange Rockerverb MkIII head for a match made in rock heaven. The gain channel plays nicely with the Descent’s Railhammer Gnarly 90 and Tel 90 pickups, making anything possible from loose, doom-like drones to tight, technical progressive metal rhythms. Switch to the clean channel and engage the 12AT7/Ecc81-driven reverb for dark, looming baritone atmosphere. Best of all, if you don’t always need all of the Rockerverb MkIII’s 100 earsplitting watts, its footswitchable attenuator can take it down to a living room-friendly 30 watts.
