Chris chats with Joe Saunders, grandson of Bakersfield country singer Billy Mize, about his new documentary Billy Mize and the Bakersfield Sound.

 

About The Guest

Joe Saunders obtained a B.A. in cinema from Southern Methodist University, and a MFA in Directing from Columbia University’s School of the Arts. His thesis film Dash Cunning, won several awards worldwide including the 20th Century Fox/Farrelly Brothers Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. Saunders began his non-fiction career at NFL Films, directing and editing documentaries for HBO, FOX, ABC, CBS, ESPN, NFL Network and the BBC. While at NFL Films Saunders won an EMMY Award in the Outstanding Long Feature category for his documentary, Big Charlie’s. Saunders is a member of the San Francisco Film Society, International Documentary Association and the Directors Guild of America.
