Yesterday, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry tweeted a first look at his new signature Gibson Les Paul. Sporting a tastefully relic’d gold top and single bridge humbucker, it also offers a few out-of-the-ordinary features.
There are two knobs — a master volume and a Chandler Tone X control. This unique pot sweeps your midrange for a wah-like effect and offers a push/pull pot to activate a 16 dB boost.
The other nontraditional feature is a Wilkinson tremolo bridge. Neither of these is surprising given Perry’s playing style, but paired with the single humbucker, they make for a pretty slick looking axe. According to Perry, the guitar has been in the works for almost three years and is a hybrid of the best features he’s seen in different guitar models. We look forward to hearing more of this Boneyard Frankenstein soon!
