TC Electronic has just announced the Hall of Fame 2, their second-generation reverb pedal, and from an early look at the features, it’s clear that the company took the wishes of its customers to heart.
Their new Hall of Fame 2 reverb pedal updates one of their most popular models with oft-requested features, like a Shimmer mode and more TonePrint slots. But the biggest new feature is what TC is calling “MASH” technology. This makes the Hall of Fame 2 a pressure-responsive effect and should grant reverb lovers an added degree of control over how much space they want to add in their tone.
Apart from that, the HoF2 houses “next-generation” algorithms, which we can safely assume will sound more hi-fi than its predecessors. A couple of features from the original Hall of Fame are absent from the sequel, or at least on the surface. Tile, Ambient and Gate reverbs are gone — replaced by two extra TonePrint slots, for a total of three — but we’d expect those tones to be easy to find through TonePrint.
MASH is looking like it will be a great feature that can work for all sorts of pedals. We look forward to what plans are in the future for this technology.
