While we’re all bummed out about spring and summer tour dates getting cancelled, the impact of COVID-19 on the music industry will continue to be felt well after festival season.
Necessary shutdowns have put our favorite music venues across the country in jeopardy. The National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) reports that 90% of venues don’t believe they can survive a six-month shutdown without government aid.
It’s a grim prognosis, but thankfully, we can all take action to help save our favorite venues, and it’s actually really easy to do so.
NIVA is encouraging music fans everywhere to visit saveourstages.com and get involved. There you can fill out and send a message to your representatives. Just fill out your name and other info and you can use the template message provided or write out your own. The website finds and displays the your federal and state representatives and senators and sends your message to them. It’s easy and takes about 30 seconds, if that!
